It is a ... GIRL!!!!!!!

It is a GIRL!!!!!

As I mentioned in my last post, during our last ultrasound (20 weeks), baby didn't cooperate for us to know the gender. But the most important thing was to know that our baby is healthy and developing accordingly.

However, the technician could not confirm the gender. She said we would need to check during the next ultrasound - scheduled for the end of February.

Honestly, I would not be able to wait until the end of February to start buying clothes and the things I want for my baby. Therefore we searched online for some options, private clinics that perform a 3D Ultrasound and are able to tell you the gender of the baby.

We chose a company that is located close to our workplace, was open after hours and most importantly had good reviews. They have so many options with packages that include live broadcasting, teddy bear with the heartbeat of your baby, pictures, DVD and the list goes on and on. We just got the gender determination special.

And it worked! We are having a GIRL!!!!! Also, it was the first time we were able to see her face!

My husband was more emotional than I was,... it was a very special moment for us.

2017: We are having a baby!!!!

I don't think it is too late,... so: Happy New Year!

I know it's been a long time and I have no excuses for you. I was considering to stop with this blog if I can call it like that.

Another year has ended and I can say that 2016 was a year of changes, surprises, ..., it was a year of emotions. Talking about the house, we didn't finish or started any new project, although ideas were not an issue, we had a busy summer! We got the high chairs for the breakfast bar and the pendant lights (I will post pics in a near future).

But the most important thing that happened in 2016 is: our family is growing. Nope, it is not another dog. We are having a baby!!!

We are really excited with what 2017 will bring us. We still don't know if it is a boy or a girl, but according to our last doctor's appointment baby is developing really well and that's what matters, right?!

We have been visiting baby stores, not to mention searching for tips and advices from friends. It is overwhelming, but we are enjoying the whole process. We are reading books recommended by my friend that lives in NY and just had her second baby.

Have you guys seen how many cute stuff there are for babies??????

For now, we decided that the nursery furniture will be white (crib, dresser/changing table, rocking/gliding chair) and the decoration will be according to the gender. Pinterest has been of great help for ideas.

We already purchased the stroller, baby monitor and a few clothes - gender neutral.

Advices are welcome! Please don't hesitate to leave your comment here!

Next post I will show the things that we already have for the baby.

Kiara

As you might already know, we have a four-legged daughter (a.k.a dog) and her name is Kiara, however I didn't have a chance to properly introduce her.

Kiara is a 9-year-old Lhasa Apso who loves to play, walk the neighbourhood and travel with us. She is a great companion.

It is so good to get home from work, open the door and ... there she is, happly wagging her tail waiting for us. We take her for a walk everyday. She is a bundle of joy.

Most of the time you will see her with a bow on her hair (stylish). She likes it!

When we moved my first concern was to find a doctor (vet) for her, and mission accomplished! Even before we had a family doctor, Kiara had already gone for a complete check-up.

We are so thankful for having her!

We are back - part II

I am wondering if someone is still visiting the blog or if you guys gave up on me. I don't blame you since I haven't been posting for a while. However it is never too late to pick up from where I left.

Many things happened since my last post but the 3 events that I need to highlight here are: 1) the builder came to fix the points listed in our 1 year inspection; 2) my mom and my aunt came to visit us for 2 weeks and,... 3) we became Canadians!!!!!

As I mentioned before, the builder came and fixed some cracks and nails popping from the wall however they don't sand or paint over the area they worked on. I've heard about this, but I was hopeful they would paint it for us. Now it is time for us to start and hopefully finish another project.

We went to Home Depot and bought all the necessary equipment: sandpaper, brushes, safety glasses, tray and other stuff. I have a confession: We have never painted any wall before!!! Ok, I understand it is just a touch up that needs to be done in each room. Even though this project will be quite interesting

Take a look at some areas we have to work on:

I will be back with the final result (good or bad)!

Bye,... ciao 2015!

It's been a year since we had our closing. I can remember all the mixed feelings really well, I mean the mix of happiness and anxiety...

Seeing our house the way we planned it to be was awesome. Learning how to install the appliances, moving ourselves and installing a garage door opener (with the help of our best friends) were also great adventures.

I had so many plans for this blog and for my house however I didn't have the time I needed to make all of them happen. But I cannot complain, we achieved so much this year,... we learned so much about the house and how things work.

Some milestones lived this year:

  • we moved into our home;
  • we had a great time with our friends;
  • we went to Brazil to visit our family;
  • we saved our grass (sodding);
  • we had lots of visits to Home Depot, Lowe's, Canadian Tire, Ikea and of course Home Sense;
  • we enjoyed two amazing road trips, one to Frankenmuth and another to New York (posts almost ready)
  • our first Halloween was spectacular;
  • the Christmas atmosphere is still around;
And right now we are preparing the 1 year inspection to be submitted soon. Luckily we didn't have any major issue - only some cosmetic things.

Overall, 2015 was a great year. Just a quick recap:

Temporary shades - that are there for almost a year now!
